A Myanmar MiG-29UB fighter jet crashed on Thursday in a rural area of the central Magway region due to a technical malfunction during training maneuvers. As reported by the state television MRTV, the pilot ejected and was evacuated.
Myanmar's armed forces have lost at least four helicopters and three fighter jets since General Min Aung Hlaing seized power in February 2021, after which fighting broke out in the country. Government forces, which are currently on the offensive in various parts of the country, are intensively using aviation.

Supplies to Myanmar of combat aircraft and other military equipment and other materiel are mainly carried out by China and Russia. Many Western countries support an arms embargo against this country in addition to other sanctions. In particular, attempts are being made to block the supply of aviation fuel in order to prevent attacks from the air.
