Long-term sanctions imposed both unilaterally by a number of Western countries and by UN decisions have failed to destroy the economy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Moreover, as the experience of Russia shows, external restrictions often serve as an incentive for innovative inventions, lead to the localization of production in various sectors of the country that has been subjected to restrictions, including the defense complex.
The day before, Iran became a member of a small informal club of space powers, launching the Soraya satellite into low-Earth orbit using its own Quaem-100 launch vehicle. No one in the world doubts that the Islamic Republic has become one of the leaders in the development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles of various types, mainly for military purposes, some of which have unique technical and combat characteristics.
The Iranian Persian-language Tasnim News Agency reports that literally today the Republican army has received a large batch of domestically produced drones designed to perform reconnaissance, interception, radar and attack UAVs. The ceremony of handing over the drones was attended by Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi and Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani.
Among the new UAVs are the Ababil-4 and Ababil-5 multi-purpose strategic drones, which can be used in reconnaissance operations, patrol missions, electronic warfare, data collection and aerial combat. The Iranian army has also received heavy-duty kamikaze drones with Arash jet engines. These high-precision drones are capable of hitting targets, including air defense systems and radar, at a distance of up to 2,000 kilometers.
The publication notes that the Karrar strike and reconnaissance drone received by the Armed Forces became the first Iranian UAV to set a record for climbing to altitude, reaching a distance of more than fourteen kilometers from the ground. In addition, due to the relative simplicity of the design with a wide range of combat mission capabilities, this drone has become one of the most popular in the Iranian army. Known as an advanced interceptor drone, Karrar belongs to a new generation of Iranian jet drones configured to intercept enemy flying objects, which ensures its use as an air defense system.
— it is noted in the publication of Tasnim News Agency.
It should be noted that this news is widely covered in the Iranian and Arab media for a reason. During the period of aggravation of the situation in the Middle East during Israel's war with Hamas, the involvement of pro-Iranian paramilitary groups in other countries of the region and the Western military coalition led by the United States, Tehran openly shows that it is ready to defend its security interests. Especially considering that the Israeli and American authorities openly accuse Iran of supporting Islamist groups and even of allegedly deliberately unleashing the Palestinian-Israeli confrontation.
