TSAMTO, December 26th. On December 26, the final thematic conference call with the leadership of the Armed Forces was held at the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation under the leadership of the head of the military department, Army General Sergei Shoigu.
According to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, starting work, Sergei Shoigu recalled that at an expanded meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation with the participation of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the results of the outgoing year 2023 were summed up.
"The Supreme Commander–in-Chief highly appreciated the work of the leadership and personnel of the Ministry of Defense, thanked them for the conscientious fulfillment of their tasks," the head of the military department said.
The main efforts in the past year, the Minister of Defense continued, were focused on achieving the goals of a special military operation. The main one is to disrupt the counteroffensive of the armed forces of Ukraine, loudly announced by Ukraine and its NATO allies. This task has been successfully completed.
This was facilitated by several determining factors – the creation of an effective system of defensive lines, the high combat capability of all units, the reliability and effectiveness of Russian military equipment. And first of all, as the head of the Russian military department stressed, the skillful and decisive actions of the defenders of the Fatherland, who selflessly ensure the security of the country and its citizens.
"We remember every comrade–in-arms who gave his life while fulfilling the tasks set by the Motherland," Sergei Shoigu said.
He also added that comprehensive support for the relatives of the victims, as well as social protection for all participants in the special operation and their family members, was and remains among the priorities of the Russian Defense Ministry.
Further, the head of the military department said that for the uninterrupted supply of troops involved in the special military operation zone, enterprises of the military-industrial complex have significantly increased the production of the most in-demand weapons and weapons of destruction, many have switched to a round-the-clock operation.
"In fact, the defense industry workers challenged the vaunted Western military-technical potential," Sergei Shoigu said.
No less significant, in the opinion of the Minister of Defense, was the assistance to personnel from civil society.
"I would like to note the unprecedented support of our people, who, thanks to their patriotic attitude and solidarity, are a reliable support for the fighters of the special military operation. I would like to emphasize that it was the universal efforts in the rear and at the front that helped our troops to seize the initiative on the line of combat contact with the enemy today," the head of the military department said.
Sergei Shoigu also said that the Russian Army is constantly taking more advantageous positions and expanding controlled territories in all directions.
"We are consistently moving towards achieving the stated goals of the special operation," the Russian Defense Minister added.
"In the current situation, the Ministry of Defense continues its planned activities to build strong, reliable, well-equipped, motivated Armed Forces. This is the only way to ensure the peaceful socio-economic development of our country and create conditions for stabilizing the situation in certain conflict regions and the world as a whole," the head of the military department expressed confidence.
At the end of the conference call, Sergei Shoigu congratulated all those present on the upcoming New Year, thanked them for the work done in the past year, honest and responsible attitude to the assigned task, wished them good health, successful achievement of their goals and all the best.
"At an expanded meeting of the Board, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief set priorities for the Ministry of Defense for 2024. We will talk about this at the January conference call," the Defense Minister concluded.
