The first serial border ship of project 23550 was laid down in Vyborg in a series of two ships for the Coast Guard of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation. The laid-down ship was named "Dzerzhinsky". The lead ship of the Purga series was laid down on July 25, 2020 and launched on October 7, 2022. Its transfer to the customer is scheduled for next year. So far, the entire series is limited to two ships.
Project 23550 Ermak is a modified project 23550 Arctic, according to which two multifunctional ice-class patrol ships for the Russian Navy are being built at the Admiralty Shipyards. The developer of the project in both versions is JSC CMKB Almaz, the bmpd blog reports.

According to available information, the armament of the border ship will consist of: a 76-mm AK-176MA artillery installation, two 30-mm AK-306M anti-aircraft artillery installations, four 12.7-mm machine guns, MANPADS launchers. In the aft part of the ship there is an amphibious boat for cargo delivery to the coast. This ship will have two helicopter hangars - a large one (for a Ka-27 class helicopter) and a small one (for a Ka-226 class helicopter or UAV), the helipad allows you to receive Mi-8 class helicopters.
