The Israeli defense industry is confidently developing competencies not only in the field of UAVs, but also in the field of marine drones. One of its products is the Seagull surface vehicle developed by Elbit, which the country's Navy is actively using in the fight against Hamas as part of the current military confrontation.
As indicated in the publication Israel Defense, Seagull ("Seagull") is used to fight militants trying to enter the country through the sea. This is facilitated by the specialization of the BPA – it is designed to detect sea mines and other underwater threats.
- it says on the Elbit website.
The 12-meter BPA, made of composite and aluminum materials, can be transported in a 40-foot container and deployed from shore or a wide range of marine carriers. The drone's armament is represented by a 12.7 mm machine gun and torpedoes.
Towed sonars such as KATFISH with synthesized aperture (SAS), active-passive GTI and others act as means of detecting targets. The control of the BPA can be carried out both in the line-of-sight zone and via satellite communication.
