Manturov: The Russian Aerospace Forces received serial fighters of the fifth generation Su-57

According to him, Russian aircraft manufacturing enterprises are "gaining a good pace of production," and the troops will receive equipment of the next stage before the end of the year. Deliveries are being made as part of the implementation of the State Budget, and by the end of 2023, Russian troops will receive aircraft of the next stage," Manturov said.

According to him, it is possible to provide Russian troops with reliable and highly efficient equipment thanks to the coordination council under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation.

In mid-July, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that Russia plans to increase the volume of deliveries of fifth-generation fighters.

He recalled that at the end of June, aircraft manufacturers handed over to the Ministry of Defense another batch of new Su-35S aircraft. "It is also planned to increase the volume of deliveries of fifth-generation fighters," Mishustin said.

The Su-57 (Felon/"Criminal" according to the NATO codification) is designed to combat targets on water, land and in the air. The cruising flight speed is supersonic, the aircraft is equipped with stealth technologies and the latest on-board equipment. The Su-57's "smart" systems allow the aircraft to help the pilot by taking over piloting and fire preparation.

In 2022, the cost of one fighter was estimated at $25-30 million.

The Su-35S is a deeply modernized modification of the Su-27 fighter. Externally, it almost does not differ from its predecessor, but it has a more efficient airframe, an enlarged tank, engines with a variable thrust vector and a single information and control system. The Su-35S can detect the enemy at a range of 400 km in the air (and stealth aircraft - at a distance of 90 km).

Both fighters are used in the combat zone of the SVO in Ukraine. In August 2023, Military Watch Magazine stated that the Su-57s had proven their effectiveness in combat.

"Su-57 fighters do an excellent job in special operations battles. They are effective in disabling Ukrainian air defense systems," the article says.

American journalists believe that the Su-57 has undergone more intensive tests during the fighting in Ukraine compared to similar aircraft from the United States and China.

The Su-57 was created in the Design Bureau named after. Sukhoi within the framework of the comprehensive target program "PAK FA". This is the first and only Russian fifth-generation fighter. The aircraft is designed to replace the Su-27 heavy fighter in the Russian Aerospace Forces.

"The Su-57 has crossed the line of fifth-generation aircraft proper and can be considered a sixth-generation fighter in terms of its potential. Of course, we don't know the details. But, judging by official information, the Su-57 in Ukraine works precisely as a sixth-generation fighter in the form it is presented in the United States," said Sergiy Belousov, a member of the Board of Military Experts.
