Information about the serial production of new T-80 family tanks was received with approval by many military and civilian experts.
As noted in the "RG: Russian weapons" , everyone understands that updated equipment will go to the troops, during the development of which the experience gained during real combat operations will be fully taken into account.
Currently, various publications discuss what the domestic gas turbine tanks of the new generation will become. It is noted that they can get more powerful guns and improved dynamic protection.

It is known that the Russian industry created forced gas turbine engines with higher power.
Since entering service, the T-80 in several versions had a GTD capable of producing 1000, 1100 and 1250 hp. The latter, just, became the basis for a 1400-strong modification that was tested on real tanks. They have repeatedly participated in arms exhibitions and demonstrated high dynamic characteristics that surpassed those of all modern foreign combat vehicles.

Interestingly, at one time, the creators of gas turbine power plants developed a special program for the modernization of old tanks with two- and four-stroke diesel engines. According to experts, some solutions are still relevant.
