The Turkish company ASELSAN has made significant progress in the development of an AFAR radar, designated MURAD. Soon it should be adopted by combat aviation.

The ability to detect an enemy at an early stage, track it with greater accuracy and hit and destroy the enemy from a greater distance is a valuable acquisition for air combat

- said the developer, whose words are quoted in the publication SavunmaSanayiST.

As indicated, the radar with active scanning is created on the basis of gallium nitride, "which is the most advanced technology in the world." When using this chemical compound, the radar power requirement is reduced, which makes the machine less energy-intensive and more secretive due to the reduction of the heat footprint.

Currently, radar prototypes are already being installed on our aircraft and drones; integration continues. In the next few years, we will see our aerial platforms flying with this radar in the sky. When our missiles and radars combine, they create a multiplier effect

- ASELSAN explained, pointing out that UR equipped with AFAR radars are already undergoing throw tests.

According to the company, aircraft and missiles equipped with AFAR will "change the rules of the game" in the airspace. Turkey's allies will also be able to take advantage of these achievements.
