Spanish military journalists who visited the Army-2023 exhibition were interested in the new Zavet-D artillery fire control vehicle, made on the chassis of the KamAZ-4386 Typhoon 4x4 armored car.
It is designed to issue target designation and correction of fire (including in the framework of counter-battery warfare) conducted by light artillery systems, both towed and self-propelled (mortars, guns and howitzers of small caliber), which are in service with airborne and mountain rifle troops.
The "Covenant-D" in the presented version weighs 11 tons. Thanks to the 350-horsepower engine, it can reach a maximum speed of 105 km/h and cover a distance of about 1000 km.

The main task of the "Covenant-D" is to provide data on enemy positions, thanks to which the artillery unit can make an advance deployment, and objective control of the results of the fire.
The crew consists of 5 fighters, whose work is supported by automated AI equipment capable of processing information coming from two sensor modules (installed in the upper part of the hull on the sides). The reconnaissance equipment operates at a distance of up to 20 km and includes day surveillance devices, night/thermal imaging devices and, possibly, a laser rangefinder to determine accurate distances. For self-defense purposes, a remotely controlled machine gun module and a PU with smoke grenades are used.
