As reported by JSC United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), on August 29, 2023, the first prototype of the "import-substituted" Russian short-haul aircraft SJ-100 (SSJ-NEW), manufactured by the Production Center of PJSC Yakovlev (part of the Rostec State Corporation UAC) in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, made its first flight there. During the tests, the stable operation of all domestic systems, controllability and stability of the aircraft in the air were confirmed.
The first prototype of the OP-1 (serial number 001, factory number 97001, registration number 97021) of the "import-substituted" Russian short-haul aircraft SJ-100 (SSJ-NEW), manufactured by the Production Center of PJSC Yakovlev (part of the Rostec State Corporation UAC) in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, in the first flight. 29.08.2023 (c) JSC "United Aircraft Corporation" (UAC)
The aircraft was piloted by a crew consisting of test pilots Leonid Chikunov and Dmitry Demenev, as well as test engineer Denis Velizhanin. The duration of the flight was 54 minutes, it took place at altitudes up to 3000 meters and speeds up to 343 km / h. In accordance with the flight task, the crew checked the stability and controllability characteristics of the aircraft in the air, checked the automatic pressure control system in the cabin, and also made a "landing on a cloud" and a landing approach with a departure for the second round.
"The first flight of the Superjet created under the program of import substitution of systems and components is the success of thousands of teams of aircraft manufacturing and radio-electronic industries that are part of the management circuit of the Rostec State Corporation. Russian developers and manufacturers managed to implement and supply their own design solutions and technologies to the aircraft, including avionics, landing gear, auxiliary power plant, integrated control system, as well as power supply systems, air conditioning, fire protection and many others," said Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
In total, about 40 systems and units were replaced on the import-independent Superjet.
"Today's flight of a Superjet with Russian systems is the result of a great joint work of the design team and the factory team, who developed, assembled and raised a virtually new aircraft in a short time, including for the global aviation industry," said Yuri Slyusar, General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation. - This is the best demonstration of our country's technological independence. We have proved, first of all to ourselves, that we can develop and produce modern civil aircraft independently, without the involvement of imported technologies. The next ambitious tasks are to certify the aircraft in a completely Russian appearance and begin serial deliveries to the airline."
In order to speed up the test program, French-Russian SaM146 engines are used on the first prototype of the aircraft. The second prototype will soon begin a flight test program already with domestic PD-8 engines, which are currently undergoing a series of bench tests and flight tests as part of the Il-76LL flying laboratory.
"The import substitution program started in 2019, and today we understand how correct and far-sighted this decision was. This aircraft has become the embodiment of the advanced developments of the domestic aviation industry, taking into account the experience of developing, certifying and operating more than 200 Superjet aircraft over the past years. From the start of the preliminary design to the first flight, 4 years have passed - given the amount of design work, this is close to a record time, at the level of the world's leading manufacturers. The same amount of time, for example, was spent on the creation of the A320neo, and even more on the Boeing 737max," said Andrei Boginsky, Deputy General Director of PJSC UAC for Civil Aviation, General Director of PJSC Yakovlev.
From the bmpd side, we point out that thus, on August 29, 2023, the first prototype of the OP-1 "import-substituted" version of the SuperJet SSJ100 regional passenger aircraft, designated as SuperJet 100NEW-95, RRJ-95NEW-100, SSJ-NEW, made its first flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, and, according to the latest data, received the official designation SJ-100 (it is used in the press release of the UAC). The OP-1 aircraft has serial number 001, factory number 97001 and registration number "97021".
The goal of the SSJ-NEW program launched in 2019 is to create a modification of the aircraft with maximum use of Russian-made equipment
Russian-French SaM-146 engines are still installed on the OP-1. In the future, it is planned to connect to the tests the second flight prototype of the SSJ-NEW aircraft (OP-3, serial number 003, factory number 97003), which is currently being completed in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, which will be made in serial configuration with standard new Russian PD-8 engines. Another prototype of the OP-2 (serial number 002, factory number 97002) is manufactured for ground strength tests.
The first prototype of the SSJ-NEW (SJ-100) aircraft, which took off on August 29, became the 228th flight aircraft of the SuperJet SSJ100 family built since 2008 as a whole.
As the web resource indicates ATO.ru according to the government program, certification and transfer of the import-substituted SJ-100 to the customer should take place before the end of 2023. This will allow the resumption of production of this type of aircraft, since the supply of Western components for the basic version is impossible due to anti-Russian sanctions.
The first two SJ-100 aircraft are planned to be delivered to the Aeroflot group, but a firm contract has not yet been issued.
It is planned that from 2024 the pace of serial production of the SJ-100 will increase to 20 aircraft per year, and by 2030 the UAC intends to produce 142 aircraft of this type.
