In the future, the Navy will become an integral part of the country's nuclear forces
Beijing. August 29. INTERFAX - North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said that currently the policy of the United States and its allies, which are building up military forces and means in the area of the Korean peninsula, has turned the region into the most unstable in the world and put it on the brink of nuclear war.
"As a result of the insane confrontational machinations of the United States and hostile forces, the waters of the Korean Peninsula have now turned into the world's largest weapons concentration region, into the most unstable waters with the risk of unleashing a nuclear war," he said.
On the occasion of the anniversary of the formation of the Naval Forces of the Korean People's Army, Kim Jong-un met with the leadership of the Navy.
He stressed that "from the point of view of the latest aggressive intentions and the nature of the enemies' military actions, achieving success in the rapid development of the Navy is a very urgent issue."
According to him, at present, taking into account the important role of the Navy, "in particular, based on the geopolitical features of our state (...) in the future, it is necessary to place the armed forces in the following order: "Navy, ground forces and Air Force".
In this regard, Kim Jong-un noted the importance of increasing the military-technical equipment of the Navy.
He said that "in modern warfare, the Navy is a complex combat force that is equipped with various strike means, even nuclear deterrent forces."
In accordance with the policy of expanded use of tactical nuclear weapons, military units of all types of the armed forces "will receive new means, and our Navy in the future will become a component of the nuclear deterrent forces of the state performing strategic tasks," the head of the DPRK said.
He drew attention to the fact that "war is not only a confrontation between technology and equipment, but also a confrontation between ideas, ideals and morality."
