MOSCOW, August 12. /tass/. JSC Remdiesel, after visiting the production facility in Naberezhnye Chelny by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu, at the suggestion of the military department, developed two new versions of the MT-LB multipurpose light armored tractors: sanitary and equipped with an anti-aircraft installation. Both modifications will be presented at the upcoming Army-2023 forum, the company told TASS.
They explained that the leadership of the ministry proposed to expand the use of machines of the MT-LB family, including making them carriers of various additional weapons and equipment with unified attachment points.
"In the development of this proposal, the Main Armored Vehicle Directorate (GABTU) of the Ministry of Defense initiated work on the creation of a removable unified platform on the roof of the amphibious cargo compartment. Based on the results of the development, Remdiesel JSC produced two sets of unified unified platforms: MT-LB with a set of sanitary equipment and MT-LBVM with a 23 mm ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun. They will be presented at the Army-2023 forum," Remdiesel said.
The first version of the conveyor is designed to evacuate the wounded inside the car and on the roof, it is equipped with special devices for transporting the bedridden wounded, stretcher mounts inside and outside, places for a set of sanitary accessories. At the same time, it is possible to dismantle a set of sanitary equipment and install light weapons on a unified platform: the Kord machine gun, the AGS-17 grenade launcher or the Fagot anti-tank missile system. Similar weapons can be quickly installed on the car in the version with an anti-aircraft gun.
Remdiesel added that the unified platform can be installed on all MT-LB modifications, having previously modified it for it. As a result, additional weapons and equipment that are not intended for this place of the unified platform can be put on the machine using the mounting elements included in the kit.
Shoigu visited Remdiesel's facilities in Naberezhnye Chelny on July 11, where he stated, among other things, that the Ministry of Defense was interested in modernizing the MT-LB armored personnel carrier fleet. He noted that it is necessary to create a more modern car, and recalled that the old Soviet-era fleet is being actively restored in the country.
The International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2023" will be held from August 14 to 20 at the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Center, at the Alabino training ground and Kubinka airfield. More than 60 States have confirmed the participation of their official military delegations in the forum. From August 15 to 17, the forum will work for specialists, delegations of foreign states and for holding events of the scientific and business program.
