The Barracuda–class submarines have a total displacement of 5,300 tons, their length is 99 m, diameter is 8.8 m. The submarines can carry MdCN cruise missiles [a marine modification of the Storm Shadow already known by its own], upgraded Exocet SM39 RCC, heavy guided torpedoes F-21 [533 mm] and mines.
Barracuda are going to replace the Ruby class: three of them have already been decommissioned, three are in service. According to the French Navy command, to meet the operational needs of the fleet, it is necessary to have 6 attack submarines.
