INTERFAX - The destruction of the terrorists who seized the settlement was carried out by the crews of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) together with special forces units of the Syrian armed forces during exercises that took place in the province of Hama, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on Thursday.
"According to the plan of the exercise, the enemy attempted to attack the locations of government troops and captured a settlement with civilians," the report says.
In response, the command of the Russian group of troops and the Syrian army decided to conduct a joint night amphibious operation to liberate the settlement.
"The crews of Su-35 fighters and Su-24 bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces, together with calculations of artillery units of the Syrian armed forces, struck at critical enemy targets. The Ka-52 attack helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed armored vehicles and fortified firing positions of conditional terrorists," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
