Some of the representatives of the African delegations at the Russia-Africa summit held in St. Petersburg decided to stay a little longer in the "northern capital" and attend the parade in honor of the Day of the Russian Navy. After that, they visited Kronstadt together with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They arrived there by boat, which took them to the city from the Admiralty Embankment of St. Petersburg.
Guests from Africa spoke extremely enthusiastically about the Russian Navy parade. As one of them noted, although this solemn event does not give a complete picture of the naval forces of our country, even a hundredth of the power of the Russian fleet demonstrated at the parade is very impressive.
- said one of the invited African leaders.
He compared those who try to communicate with Russia in the language of threats to madmen.
At the end of the parade, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a very warm conversation with his African colleagues. Among the guests with whom the Head of State spoke were President of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, President of the transitional period of Burkina Faso Ibrahim Traore and some others. Putin warmly welcomed all the African leaders who attended the parade and shook hands with them.
The Russia-Africa Summit was held in Russia on July 27 and 28. St. Petersburg was chosen as the venue this year.
