Such a connection has almost absolute cryptographic protection. Potential consumers are banks, mobile operators and large companies
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that it is planned to build new sections of the quantum network with a length of more than 1400 km. He mentioned this at a meeting of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with deputy Prime ministers. According to Chernyshenko, a pilot section of the Moscow—St. Petersburg backbone quantum network and the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod segment have already been created, the total length of the quantum network in Russia is now 1147 km.
By the end of this year, it is planned to build new sections of the quantum network from Moscow to Kazan, Voronezh and Rostov-on-Don, the total length of the new segments will be 1400 km. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, quantum communications are both communication, cryptography, and information security. Quantum communication allows you to transmit data over long distances absolutely securely, since the information that is transmitted through such a communication channel is almost impossible to intercept unnoticed by the addressees.
According to Chernyshenko, the largest banks, mobile operators and other market participants can become potential consumers of quantum communications. He noted that Russian Railways, Gazprombank, BEAC, MTS and Rostelecom have already shown a high interest in quantum technologies. We have already written that Russian Railways plans to test the quantum connection between the "Swallow" with the "automachinist" function and the traffic control center at the landfill in Moscow.
