The American Navy began to transfer the repair of warships to foreign shipyards

The reduction in the size of the American fleet while maintaining the doctrine of dominance in the oceans has led to a faster deterioration of warships. In this regard, the load on the shipbuilding capacities of the country has increased. However, in general, local shipyards were unable to repair pennants in the allotted time and for the agreed amounts, which eventually led to the need to place orders abroad.

The US Navy continues to experience difficulties with domestic ship repair facilities. Therefore, the Biden administration is considering the possibility of concluding an agreement on the repair of Navy pennants at commercial shipyards in Japan

As indicated, the US Ambassador to Japan, Rahm Emanuel, is also trying to negotiate on this issue with the Philippines, South Korea and Singapore.

Meanwhile, the process of transferring the repair of American fleet ships to India has already begun. The US Navy has signed a five-year overhaul agreement with the local company Larsen Toubro. As part of this transaction, the emergency rescue vessel USNS Salvor built in 1986 has already arrived at the port of Tamil Nadu to restore technical readiness. In general, MSC-type vessels [naval transports] from the entire area of responsibility of the 7th Fleet will be repaired here.
