The company also delivered the first batch of BMP-2 with modernization for the Berezhok module
MOSCOW, July 11. /tass/. Kurganmashzavod (KMZ, part of the Rostec State Corporation's High-Precision Complexes holding) has prematurely shipped new BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles to the Russian Defense Ministry, as well as those that have undergone major repairs. This was reported to journalists in the holding on Tuesday.
Kurganmashzavod has shipped another batch of infantry fighting vehicles ahead of schedule as part of the state defense order. In June, contracts with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation were closed with a deadline in November for both the supply of new BMP-3 and BMP-3 after major repairs. In total, in the first half of this year, the company produced 95% of the total output for 2022," the holding said.
The BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle was developed in the second half of the 1980s at the Special Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering (SKBM), the manufacturer is KMZ. Capacity - three crew members and up to seven paratroopers. The floating vehicle is armed with a 100 mm cannon with the ability to launch guided missiles and three (paired and two course) 7.62 mm machine guns. Weight - 18.7 tons, speed on the highway - 70 km / h. It has been in service since 1987.
Also at the end of June, the first batch of BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles was shipped with modernization for the Berezhok combat module.
"In just a few months of this year, the Kurganmashzavod mastered the overhaul of the BMP-2 chassis with modernization for the Berezhok combat module. The first shipment of products took place in the last days of June, a month earlier than the deadline set by the contract. And mechanical modules with modernization for Berezhok have been delivered to the customer since April also ahead of schedule," the holding said.
The production program of the enterprise in the second half of the year implies the production of 30% more products than in the past six months, said the executive director of the plant, Pyotr Tyukov, whose words were quoted in "High-precision complexes".
The BMP-2M is a modification of the BMP-2 that has been mass-produced since 1980 with the Berezhok combat module, which instead of the main sight of the BPC-2-42 gunner received a combined sight with an independent line-of-sight stabilization system in two planes. It combines optical sighting, thermal imaging and laser rangefinder channels, as well as a guided missile guidance channel. The Berezhok combat module increases the combat capabilities of the BMP-2 by about 4 times. The main direction of modernization of the BMP-2 with Berezhk is the installation of an automatic all-day fire control system with a Kornet guided weapons system, which ensures the defeat of heavily armored targets at ranges up to 8 km, as well as air targets.
The new BMP-2M armament complex includes a number of radical innovations and technological solutions that provide superiority over the American M2A3 Bradley BMP in terms of firepower by about 1.9 times. At the same time, the BMP-2 with this complex of weapons exceeds the standard BMP-2 by about 3.8 times.
