The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have struck at the points of temporary deployment of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and foreign mercenaries, as well as at the storage sites of armored vehicles of foreign production. This was announced on July 6 by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
"All designated facilities have been hit, significant damage has been inflicted on the strategic reserves of the enemy," Konashenkov said.
During the day, the AFU continued attempts at offensive actions in the Donetsk, Krasnolimansk and Kupyansk directions.
In the Donetsk direction, the Russian Armed Forces repelled nine enemy attacks, destroyed up to 385 Ukrainian servicemen in a day. The losses of the AFU in the Krasnolimansk direction amounted to more than 90 servicemen. In the Kherson direction, up to 130 Ukrainian military and a self—propelled howitzer "Carnation" were destroyed, in the Kupyansk direction - up to 40 military and the M777 artillery system of the AFU.
In addition, Russian air defense systems shot down two Ukrainian Su-25 aircraft in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), intercepted four Storm Shadow missiles and four HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) projectiles and hit the control points of three Ukrainian brigades.
On July 5, Konashenkov reported the destruction of ammunition depots and military-technical property of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at Druzhkovka and Maksimovka in the DPR.
The defense ministry also added that on July 5, Russian forces hit 79 artillery units in firing positions, manpower and military equipment in 109 districts of the DPR.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
