After the start of the special operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Russian tanks faced a threat from enemy drones trying to attack the towers of cars. Part of the MBT already had protection in the form of so-called "visors" - structures welded in military workshops on the tower and designed to cover it from being hit from above (although this was originally done with the expectation of strikes from Javelin ATGMS).
The other part of the tanks either remained in its original form, or the efforts of the crews were retrofitted with improvised means of protection in a different way. A similar example of military creativity drew attention in the French press.
The image shows a T-72B, on which a protective "cage" was installed due to the threat from drones. Being welded directly to the hull, it restricts the movement of the turret, which cannot rotate 360° and is only able to shoot forward.

- it is noted in the Air edition & Cosmos, criticizing the anti-drone protection of the Russian tank.
For our part, we note that, judging by the footage from the factory sites and from the theater, the Russian defense industry has established the production of regular "visors" that have already been seen at the front. Unlike the original means of protection, they allow the crew to leave the car urgently due to the presence of folding flaps above the gunner and commander.
