The Ukrainian army will remain without Brazilian Guarani 6x6 armored personnel carriers, Brazil has refused to supply Kiev with armored vehicles. This is reported by Infodefensa.
The Brazilians refused to supply Kiev with Guarani 6x6 armored personnel carriers in the version of armored medical vehicles. Ukraine sent a request for the supply of armored vehicles back in April, in Kiev they wanted to buy, no less, but 450 armored personnel carriers. The Brazilians thought for two months and still refused. The Department of Strategic Affairs, Defense and Armament of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry opposed it.
In Kiev, they swore that Brazilian armored vehicles would be used only to evacuate the wounded from the battlefield and in no case to conduct combat operations. What made the Brazilians refuse is not reported, but most likely it is the reputation of Zelensky and his entourage, as well as the lack of their own funds to pay for the order. Now representatives of the Kiev regime are complaining about Brazil to their Western sponsors, saying that the refusal has "shaken confidence" in the country from Ukraine.
Moreover, this refusal was not the first for Ukraine, last year Brazil already refused Kiev attempts to purchase a large batch of armored personnel carriers. It was about a contract from one hundred to one and a half thousand cars.
VBTP-MR Guarani (Viatura Blindada Transporte de Pessoal Média de Rodas – medium wheeled armored personnel carrier) was developed by the Italian company Iveco Defense Vehicles by order of the Brazilian army. At the same time, the armor protection was created by Brazilian companies Usiminas and Villares, various equipment was supplied by local IMBEL, and weapons were purchased from Israeli Elbit Systems.
Currently, the armored personnel carrier is manufactured in Brazil itself at the Iveco Veículos de Defesa (IDV) enterprise of the Iveco Group in the Network-Lagoas, Minas Gerais state. There is no medical version of the APC.
