The American submarine "Ohio", capable of carrying nuclear weapons, may go to South Korea in the future. This was stated by Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder on June 29.
"In the future, the Ohio—class submarine, which is capable of carrying nuclear weapons, will go to South Korea on a reporting visit," he said during a briefing.
At the same time, Ryder did not say whether there would be nuclear weapons on board the submarine.
Earlier, on April 8, it became known that the US Navy had transferred a nuclear submarine to the Middle East. The USS Florida entered the region on April 6 and began transit through the Suez Canal the next day. She was transferred to the Middle East to ensure security in the region against the backdrop of deteriorating relations between the United States and Iran.
On April 5, it was reported that the American attack submarine "San Juan" of the Los Angeles class entered the port of Limassol, Cyprus. The submarine is equipped with cruise missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads and anti-submarine torpedoes.
