Rostec United Engine Corporation has opened a new Center for Design Development and Research in Samara. Over 1.5 billion rubles have been invested in the construction of a complex with an area of more than 10 thousand square meters. Equipped with advanced technology and modern IT infrastructure, the Design Bureau will develop promising power plants for aviation, space and energy.
The commissioning ceremony of the new Center for Design and Scientific Research "UEC-Kuznetsov" was attended by the Governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov, First Deputy Director General of Rostec State Corporation Vladimir Artyakov and General Director of the United Engine Corporation Vadim Badeha.
The new design Bureau has organized 500 high-tech jobs for design engineers and employees of technical services. The building is equipped with engineering analysis and design systems, as well as its own data storage and processing systems.
"The opening of the new OKB building is a landmark event for the company and the entire industry. This is a state-of-the-art intellectual center that will shape the future of engine building for the coming decades. Its equipment will allow the development of new gas turbine engines completely in a virtual environment with the use of "digital twins" and significantly reduce the creation time – up to 4-5 years. UEC-Kuznetsov has a powerful engineering school, highly qualified specialists who, thanks to this center, will be able to realize their full potential and provide the country with aviation, space and energy power plants," said Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy Director General of Rostec State Corporation.
The new Design Bureau has a modern space for collective work – a two-level conference room with a secure video conferencing system for conducting training events, seminars and working on joint projects. A special training class is designed for students of the Wings of Rostec project – now mentors and students are on the same territory, in the same information environment, which allows attracting young and progressive engineers of a new generation to the UEC-Kuznetsov.
UEC-Kuznetsov is one of the most high–tech enterprises in the country with a modern production base. More than 40 billion rubles have already been invested in the modernization of capacities, 12 new facilities have been opened, and several more are on the way. The new center is a modern research base that will not only reduce the development time of new products, attract young specialists, but also set a qualitatively new vector for the development of the entire corporation," said Vadim Badeha, General Director of the United Engine Corporation.
The opening of the new intellectual center symbolically took place on the birthday of the outstanding designer Nikolai Dmitrievich Kuznetsov, whose name is the Samara enterprise of the UEC. Today, the Kuznetsov Design school continues to develop the best developments of its predecessors, embodying new ideas into promising products.
