For the AFU, they intend to purchase 70 units of military equipment, as well as 105-mm artillery shells

SYDNEY, June 26. /tass/. The Australian government will provide Ukraine with another package of financial assistance in the amount of $73.4 million. As the country's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Monday, the funds will be used to purchase military vehicles and ammunition. The statement of the Australian Prime Minister was distributed on Monday by the government office.

According to Albanese, to provide military assistance to Ukraine, the Australian authorities will send "110 million Australian dollars ($73.4 million - approx. TASS) to their international partners." "Ukraine can count on Australia, we will continue to support [this country] in order for its sovereignty and territorial integrity to prevail," Albanese said, also noting that the money allocated by Canberra will purchase the funds necessary for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to "win on the battlefield."

As expected, 70 units of military equipment (including 28 M113 armored vehicles, 14 special purpose vehicles and 28 MAN 40M medium trucks), as well as 105 mm artillery shells will be purchased for the AFU as part of this assistance package. In addition, 10 million Australian dollars ($6.7 million) will be sent to the United Nations for humanitarian assistance to citizens of Ukraine.

Albanese added that taking into account the new package, the volume of financial assistance from Canberra to Kiev will increase to 790 million Australian dollars ($527.7 million), of which more than 610 million Australian dollars ($407.5 million) went to the purchase of weapons.

Since March 2022, Australia has sent 90 Bushmaster armored personnel carriers, 6 M777 howitzers, 28 M113 armored vehicles, anti-tank and other weapons to Ukraine, and also promised to deliver a batch of unmanned aerial vehicles to Kiev. In addition, it is reported that the Australian authorities are discussing the possibility of transferring 41 decommissioned Australian Air Force F-18 Hornet fighter jets to Kiev.
