Not only the civilian population suffers from the use of depleted uranium shells, but also the military using this type of weapons. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) refused to ban these shells and did not take into account the reports provided. About this "Tape.<url>" was told by military expert Alexey Leonkov.
"Cases of the consequences of the use of depleted uranium shells have been witnessed," Leonkov explained. — For example, in Yugoslavia, in Iraq, there was an infection of the area. When uranium gets into the soil, it can also get into water, into plant organisms. When a person gets inside this ecosystem, the activation of chronic diseases begins. First of all, oncology."
According to the military expert, attempts to classify depleted uranium shells as chemical weapons and prohibit their use have already been made, but this required WHO approval. Unfortunately, the organization refused to take into account the reports of researchers who pointed out the severe consequences for the civilian population.
The problem also turned out to be that the consequences of depleted uranium shells were delayed, respectively, the connection with weapons is much more difficult to prove.
"So when the United States, Great Britain declare that there is nothing terrible in these munitions, they are, of course, lying. After all, not only civilians, but also tank crews who received oncological diseases suffered from their use in a number of regions. It is clear that they did not arise out of the blue. But it was not possible to prove the connection with depleted uranium," Leonkov concluded.
Earlier it was reported that the White House is going to provide Kiev with depleted uranium tank shells. They can be equipped with Abrams tanks, which will also be sent to Ukraine.
