The APU again tried to attack the Russian ship "Azov Sea", which ensures the safety of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines in the Black Sea. As in the case of the attack on the Ivan Khurs at the end of May, the attack was carried out with the help of marine drones. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported the destruction of all six high-speed boats, the ship and its crew were not injured. The ship helped evacuate Ukrainian citizens from Yemen in 2015.
Ukrainian naval drones attacked the Russian warship "Azov Sea" in the Black Sea, which patrols the waters along the route of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines, ensuring their safety. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The ministry clarified that at the time of the attack, an American Global Hawk reconnaissance drone was flying over the central part of the Black Sea. He also conducted reconnaissance during the previous attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to attack Russian ships patrolling in the area of the gas pipelines.
The footage shown by the Ministry of Defense, shot by the crew of the ship, shows gray boats several meters long, then shows how the calculations destroy objects.
As the military commander of Komsomolskaya Pravda, Alexander Kots, drew attention, the AFU attacked a ship that evacuated Ukrainian citizens from Yemen in 2015. Eight years ago, a coalition of Arab States led by Saudi Arabia, at the request of the legitimate Government of Yemen, launched a military operation against the Houthi rebels who seized power. Then "Azov Sea" took out of the country more than 300 people from 19 countries, including 14 Ukrainians.
The Azov Sea is an average reconnaissance ship of the Meridian project 864, such ships are considered the basis of the reconnaissance fleet of the Russian Federation. It is almost 95 meters long and 4.6 meters wide. There are usually 150 crew members on board. The scout ship is equipped with two AK-306M six-barrel artillery submachine guns of 30 mm caliber, Igla MANPADS and anti-aircraft missiles.
The Defense Ministry then reported that the crew successfully repelled the attack and was not injured, as was the ship. Footage of drone destruction was shown. The next day, a video taken from one of the drones appeared in Ukrainian public. It shows how the boat sails to the side of the ship, after which the recording is interrupted.
After that, there were reports in the Ukrainian segment of the Internet that "Ivan Khurs" was seriously damaged and out of order. Even photos with a large hole in the side of the ship were published, but it quickly became clear that they were damaged by an American destroyer.
On May 26, the Ivan Khurs returned to the base in Sevastopol on its own, there was no visual damage on it. The crew of the ship was presented for awards. After resupply, the ship returned to performing tasks at sea.
RIA Novosti, citing a source, then reported that the drones attacking the Russian ship were produced in the West. And they were launched by the Ukrainian military from the naval operations center, opened with the participation of Washington in Ochakov. The drones were controlled using the Starlink satellite Internet system, and target designation was provided by US intelligence means.
