A single-copy fire support vehicle based on the T-62 and BMP-2 was shown the other day in Ukraine. The hull was borrowed from the tank, and the combat compartment with a 30 mm cannon and a 7.62 mm machine gun was borrowed from the "two". The spaced protection of the sides is made along the entire length of the hull, the shape of the mud shields has been changed, the boxes on the overhead shelves have been replaced, a sheet of additional armor has been installed in front of the lower frontal part.
On the upper front part of the hull, as well as on the tower, elements of dynamic protection "Contact-1" are visible. In total, about four dozen containers have been installed.
Military experts who got acquainted with this craft for the Armed Forces of Ukraine drew attention to a number of gross mistakes made by those who were engaged in this "modernization". Of course, we will not name them, let everything remain as it is.
The creators of this armored mutant were inspired by the Algerian development, which they began to write about in 2021. The sixty-second platforms were also used there, but the combat compartment was thoroughly improved, it received a modern fire control system with all-day multi-channel sights, automatic target tracking.

BMPT-62 from Algeria
In addition to a small-caliber gun and a machine gun, there is also a 30-mm automatic grenade launcher and an anti-tank missile system "Kornet", considered one of the most powerful in the world. On the Ukrainian machine, the use of ATGM does not seem to be provided at all. Therefore, the Ukrainian imitation of BMPT is hardly viable in the conditions of modern combat.
