MOSCOW, June 5. /tass/. The Baltic Fleet has attracted up to 40 ships and over 3.5 thousand military personnel to operational exercises at sea and at training grounds in the Kaliningrad region. This was reported to journalists in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"In accordance with the training plan for the military command of the Baltic Fleet forces for 2023, from June 5 to 15, an operational exercise with the Baltic Fleet groups under the leadership of the commander of the BF, Vice Admiral Vladimir Vorobyov, began in the Baltic Sea and at the combat training grounds in the Kaliningrad Region," the department informed.
They clarified that up to 40 surface warships, boats and support vessels, including patrol ships and corvettes, small missile ships and missile boats, were involved in the exercises. In addition, over 3,500 military personnel, up to 25 aircraft and helicopters, 500 units of combat and special equipment are involved in the maneuvers.
The ministry noted that the naval tactical groups of the Baltic Fleet left their bases and deployed naval groups of the fleet in designated areas of the Baltic Sea to perform training tasks.
The Ministry explained that the objectives of the exercise are to increase the level of readiness of the Baltic Fleet military command bodies, improve interaction, naval training of ship crews and field training of personnel of the coastal fleet troops, as well as getting practice by the command and headquarters in force management. As part of the exercise, the tasks of protecting and defending sea communications and fleet bases are being worked out.
The Defense Ministry also added that before the exercises on the Baltic Fleet, a complex of special exercises on all types of support was conducted, as well as issues of bringing the fleet's forces and troops to the highest degrees of combat readiness were worked out.
