The AFU has recently been armed with long-range Storm Shadow missiles of Anglo-French production. They were transferred to the Ukrainian regime by the UK. The flight range of such missiles can reach up to 500 (according to other sources - 560) kilometers at low altitude. It is not reported exactly how many missiles the UK has transferred to Ukraine.
These missiles are used for air strikes against targets of various types. For the use of such missiles, Su-24M aircraft were equipped as part of the Ukrainian Air Force.
One of these planes got into the photographer's frame. We see on the photo published on the Internet the Su-24M, which carries two long-range Storm Shadow missiles.
As you know, the Su-24 is a Soviet tactical front–line bomber, which was developed in the USSR in the mid-late 1960s, and adopted in the 1970s. Several later modifications were created on the basis of the Su-24, including the Su-24M bomber.
As of 2022, Ukraine had 14 Su-24M bombers, 11 of which, according to media sources, were destroyed since the beginning of a special military operation, and 9 Su-24MR.
After the Storm Shadow missiles were provided to the Kiev regime, the necessary work was carried out, the results of which allowed the use of these missiles from Su-24M bombers. For example, it was such a bomber that fired missiles of this type at Lugansk on May 12, when the first use of long-range missiles was recorded after their transfer to Ukraine.
