The frigate Amiral Ronarch, which is being built in Lorient for the French Navy, "became the target of malicious action," as indicated in the publication Le Télégramme. Numerous cables laid inside the ship were cut and severed. A similar incident occurred earlier this month on the British frigate HMS Glasgow, which is being built at a shipyard in Scotstoun, Scotland. In connection with the designated incidents, work on both ships has been suspended.
- it is noted in the publication.
In September 2022, Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu warned of "the risk of sabotage against the production chains of French arms manufacturers." The head of the DRSD military intelligence, General Philippe Sunyara, also pointed out this threat.
The Admiral Ronarch frigate will be equipped with two launchers of 8 Aster 30 missiles, a 76-mm artillery launcher, remotely controlled 20-mm guns, MU-90 torpedoes and Exocet missile launchers.
With a displacement of 4,500 tons and a length of 122 meters, it promises to become a powerful unit of the French fleet. The country's navy should receive three units of this type by 2030, with the last two ships to be delivered by 2035.
