The reconnaissance ship of the Black Sea Fleet "Ivan Khurs", which the day before repelled the attack of unmanned boats of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), arrived at the permanent base in Sevastopol. This was announced on Friday, May 26, by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"The crew of the Ivan Khurs SRC has completed a planned transition from the task area to the permanent deployment point Sevastopol," the Telegram channel of the Russian military department says.

The ministry added that after the ship replenishes material reserves in Sevastopol, it will continue to perform tasks for its intended purpose.

Three unmanned speedboats attacked the Russian ship Ivan Khurs on May 24. At that moment, the vessel was in the area of the Bosphorus Strait in the exclusive economic zone of Turkey, where it ensured the safety of the operation of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines after the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream–2 gas pipelines.

Later, the Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) repelled the attack on the ship, and published a video. The footage shows how fire is coming from the Russian ship, as a result of which one of the AFU boats explodes.

As the ministry added, after the Ukrainian attack, "Ivan Khurs" continued to fulfill its tasks.

On May 25, the former chief of the General Staff of the Navy, Admiral Valentin Selivanov, told Izvestia that single attacks by unmanned boats on ships of the Black Sea Fleet in the open sea do not pose a great danger if the attacked ship is armed with machine guns.

At the same time, the expert pointed out that reconnaissance ships are not designed for combat and since this has happened, it is necessary to take measures to protect our ships in obviously dangerous areas where unmanned surface vehicles can attack. According to the admiral, such functions could be performed by missile boats and corvettes or larger ships.
