The new military equipment of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) this year, during a sudden check of combat readiness, once again proved reliability, and the personnel demonstrated professional skills, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, Commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, reported this in April.
The sudden inspection of the Pacific Fleet forces was carried out by the decision of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, President Vladimir Putin, from April 14. It involved the ship and submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet in full strength, as well as long-range aviation, aviation of the Eastern Military District, units and support units.
The day of the creation of the Pacific Fleet is considered May 21, 1731. On this day, the Senate established the first permanent naval unit of Russia in the Far East - the Okhotsk Military Port. It was the ships and vessels of the Port of Okhotsk that became the basis of the nascent Russian naval forces in the Far East, which later turned into the Pacific Fleet.
On the eve of the Pacific Fleet Day, RIA Novosti was sorting out which new ships and boats will arrive at the Pacific Fleet in the near future.
The future of the TOP
According to Evmenov, by 2027, the Pacific Fleet will receive 12 new corvettes of projects 20385 and 20380.
The corvettes of Project 20380 and their upgraded versions of Project 20385 are being built at the Severnaya Shipyard in St. Petersburg and at the Amur Shipbuilding Plant (ASZ) in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Ships of this class are already entering the Pacific Fleet.
The tenth corvette "Zealous" of the 20380/20385 family for the Pacific Fleet will be laid at the ASZ on June 9 under project 20385, the mortgage of the bottom section of the corvette has already been left in the slipway shop.
The contract for the construction of two corvettes of project 20380 and four corvettes of the upgraded project 20385 at the ASZ for the Pacific Fleet was signed on December 15, 2020.
In addition, Amur shipbuilders expect to begin construction in the near future in the interests of the Pacific Fleet of new frigates of project 22350. To do this, a pontoon dock and a transport and launching dock will be built at the shipyard this year, which will allow the construction of frigate-class ships at the ASZ.
Also in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the construction of a series of small rocket ships of the project 22800 "Karakurt" continues for the Pacific.
In addition to the construction of new ships, there is a systematic modernization of combat units. In particular, in 2020, the fleet received a modernized large anti-submarine ship "Marshall Shaposhnikov" project 1155M. According to the same project, the same type of BOD "Admiral Vinogradov" is currently undergoing modernization.
After modernization, the ships are classified as frigates: the Kalibr missile system is installed on the ships (with the prospect of pre-equipping with hypersonic Zircons in the future) and new anti-ship missiles Uranus.
Nuclear Fleet
In recent years, the renewal of the nuclear forces of the Pacific Fleet has also begun. In particular, in 2022, the fleet was replenished with a new multipurpose submarine of the project 885M ("Ash-M") "Novosibirsk". It is expected that by the end of this year, the next modernized "Ash" - "Krasnoyarsk" will come to the Far East. In the following years, it is planned to build the same type of "Perm" and "Vladivostok" for the Pacific.
The strategic forces of the Pacific Fleet previously received new boats of project 955 (code "Borey") "Alexander Nevsky" and "Vladimir Monomakh", as well as "Prince Oleg" and "Generalissimo Suvorov", built according to the modified project 955A ("Borey-A"). At least one more improved "Borey" - "Emperor Alexander III" is also planned to be transferred to the Pacific Fleet by the end of this year, the boat was launched at the Sevmash in Severodvinsk in December last year.
In addition, last year it was in the Pacific Ocean that the experimental special-purpose nuclear submarine Belgorod of project 09852 began service. The boat is the carrier of the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicles and autonomous deep-water stations.
The "Varshavianok" series
It is expected that by the end of 2024, a series of six diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3 will be fully built and will become part of the Pacific Fleet.
In April, the commander-in-chief of the Navy at the ceremony of launching the fifth Varshavyanka for the Mozhaysk Pacific Fleet in St. Petersburg announced that the fleet would be replenished this year.
He added that the reserve for the sixth submarine of the project 636 for the Pacific Fleet is already being made, while noting that the construction of the project boats can continue, since they have a large modernization potential.
The contract for the construction of diesel-electric submarines of Project 636 for the Pacific Fleet was signed in September 2016. In November 2022, the fourth such submarine "Ufa" joined the fleet. The sixth boat "Yakutsk" is under construction. Earlier, the TOPF included the first three submarines of the series - Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Volkhov and Magadan.
The submarines of this project belong to the third generation, have a displacement of 3.95 thousand tons, an underwater speed of 18 knots, a diving depth of 300 meters, a crew of 52 people, an autonomous navigation of 45 days, an economical diving range of 400 miles. The submarines are armed with torpedoes of 533 mm caliber (six vehicles), mines, and the Kalibr strike missile system.
Amphibious capabilities
Amphibious means of the Pacific Fleet will also be updated in the coming years. It is expected that two new large amphibious assault ships (BDK) of the modified project 11711 "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin" will replenish the TOPF. The ships were laid down in April 2019 at Yantar.
On the new BDK for the Pacific Fleet, in comparison with the basic project 11711, the total displacement will be increased to 8 thousand tons (7 thousand - standard). The ships will be able to take on board up to 40 armored vehicles, up to 400 paratroopers, up to five Ka-27, Ka-29 or four Ka-52K helicopters, up to six Serna landing boats. The armament of the ship will be AU 76.2 mm and AK-176MA.
The new ships will also differ from the basic project in the superstructure and a number of other changes.
