"Thanks" to Washington's efforts, the situation around Taiwan has recently been in a tense situation. The island's authorities continue to develop their armed forces with the support of the States.
According to the Central News Agency of Taiwan, the island is preparing to launch a submarine of its own production.
The diesel-electric submarine is planned to be put into operation in September of this year, which is more than six months earlier than previously planned, the agency notes. Initially, the construction of the submarine was planned to be completed in May 2024, but work on the submarine was accelerated.
Although the submarine is manufactured in Taiwan, almost all of its weapons and a number of blocks, assemblies and assemblies will be of foreign origin. According to the head of the Taiwanese shipbuilding corporation CSBC Chen Wenlong, missile weapons, torpedoes and diesel engines will arrive on the island from abroad under license.
As soon as the submarine is launched, it will have to undergo a series of general and combat tests and only then it will enter service with the Taiwan Navy. The agency indicates that this will happen no earlier than 2025.
Today Taiwan has four diesel-electric submarines of American and Dutch production, two of which are very outdated (built back in the 1940s).
