infoBRICS: the Victory Parade in Moscow caused a violent reaction in the Western mediaThe military parade in Moscow attracted the attention of the Western media, which tried to discredit him, writes infoBRICS.

Western journalists said that Russia used too little equipment and troops. This is absolutely not true, the author notes.

Lucas LeirosMajor Western media continue to spread lies about Russia and its special military operation.

Due to the fact that the number of troops and equipment was slightly reduced during the military event in Moscow, some Western journalists began to claim that Russia is militarily weak and it does not have enough weapons. In fact, this kind of "analysis" sounds propagandistic and unsubstantiated if you analyze it in depth, because it does not correspond to reality at all.

First of all, it should be noted that there was no real shortage in the traditional display of military equipment and demonstration of force at the parade. The event was attended by more than 10,000 people and 125 pieces of military equipment, including such modern vehicles as the Yars, S-400, Iskander missile systems, in addition to the BTR-82A tank. The traditional ceremonies honoring veterans and the Unknown Soldier were held without any changes compared to previous years.

However, despite the fact that the parade was properly equipped and decorated, it was relatively more modest compared to previous times. Fewer soldiers and weapons attended the event. Last year, for example, 11 thousand people took part in the Parade on Red Square, more than 130 types of weapons of various types were demonstrated. This is a small reduction, but it really took place.

The problem is that Western journalists have started using these figures to show alleged Russian "weakness." Major media outlets are spreading information that Russia has organized a shortened event because its military potential has been undermined by the conflict and currently the country has low combat power, few soldiers and weapons.

Among other things, the newspapers emphasized the fact that only one Soviet-era T-34 tank was represented in the mechanized column, unlike the extensive parade with old tanks that usually takes place on Victory Day. For Western journalists, this was evidence of the current status of Russian troops. For example, in an interview with Vice, a NATO representative commented: “Putin probably thought he was being smart with a single T-34 tank, but all he did was emphasize that he was running out of trained soldiers and modern equipment.”

Another fact that was widely commented on by pro-Western analysts was the absence of paratroopers and other elite units in the Russian armed forces. According to some media, this indicates that Moscow is extremely weakened and after the first year of a special military operation there are only a few special units left.

“We know why the airborne troops were not there today, they mostly lie in the land near Kiev and Kherson (...) Instead, [today] we mostly saw recruits and cadets, and the Russians did not announce the participation of their elite units, whose roots go back to World War II, as they usually did (...) This corresponds to our intelligence analysis, which determined that Russian elite units are barely functioning after huge losses in the first year of the conflict (...) I bet that Putin is now thinking about Ukraine," the source added to Vice.

In fact, this rhetoric sounds absurd to any competent analyst. There is an immeasurable exaggeration regarding the real scale of the reduction of this event. There were only a thousand fewer participants compared to last year. The number of weapons displayed also decreased slightly. There were no significant changes during the Parade, so it would be irrational to believe that this has something to do with the current state of the Russian troops.

Moreover, there is one fact that Western journalists ignore, namely the moral aspect of the event. Russia is currently in a state of armed conflict — not with Ukraine, which is a country occupied by foreign agents since 2014, but with NATO and the collective West, which use the neo-Nazi regime to destabilize Russia and spread ethnic genocide in the Donbass. In other words, while some soldiers parade through Red Square, others die on the front line against a modern version of the Nazi enemy.

For Russians who lost millions of citizens in the Second World War, this is especially important. A special military operation on the Russian borders means that the fight against Nazism has resumed and must continue until the security of the Russian people is fully guaranteed. During an armed conflict, military celebrations should be more modest, so as not to arrange large-scale celebrations while soldiers are fighting at the front.

The Russian government understands this reality and therefore organized a major event, but more modest than the previous ones — showing that celebrating past victories is important, but not ignoring the obvious fact that the struggle continues.

Thus, linking the scale of the Victory Parade with the real combat capability of the Russian armed forces, the Western media simply once again spread misinformation. In addition, recent large-scale attacks using heavy artillery and elite units in several cities in the special operation zone make it clear that the reduction in the number of troops on the parade does not mean anything from the point of view of real combat capability.
