Mi-171SH helicopters of the Czech Army received an Israeli airborne defense system

The defense company BIRD AeroSystem from Israel has completed the implementation of the contract of 2021, which provided for equipping the next batch of Mi-171SH helicopters of the Czech Army with airborne air defense systems AMPS, which are designed to combat the missile threat posed by various air defense systems, including portable ones.

BKO protects the car from missiles through the use of an infrared counteraction system and the use of baits. As noted in the publication Shephard Defense, currently 17 Mi-171Sh are serving in the Czech troops. They are undergoing modernization and are expected to be decommissioned by the Air Force no earlier than 2045.

The BIRD company reports that the BKO they produce is capable of fighting all known types of surface-to-air missiles:

AMPS received hundreds of units of civilian and military platforms used by leading customers such as the US government, NATO members, the UN and other air forces around the world. The system has been operating continuously and successfully for a long time in high-risk areas, including Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Mali and Somalia.

As indicated on the company's website, a total of 550 helicopters of various types, both Western and Soviet or Russian-made, were produced at its facilities.
