Despite many years of existence under Western sanctions, Iran continues to develop and improve its armed forces. The country's authorities are well aware that they will face the fate of neighboring Iraq and Syria if they are not ready for a possible attack from outside.
They are also strengthening their naval forces in Iran. According to the Iranian edition of Mehr, a number of the country's warships have been equipped with Abu Mahdi cruise missiles. The fact that these missiles are installed on Iranian destroyers, said the Commander of the country's Navy, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani.
The publication notes that Shahram Irani also previously announced the equipping of Iranian Navy destroyers with cruise missiles that are effective when using electronic warfare. The Navy commander added that successful tests of these missiles have already passed and have been recognized as effective.
According to information from open sources, the Abu Mahdi rocket was officially unveiled in August 2020. This missile has a range of more than 1000 km and can be launched from various types of sea, land and air platforms.
Iran has been developing its missile program for decades and quite successfully creating new types of missiles. This, of course, greatly worries Washington and the Israeli authorities, who are considered the main opponents of Tehran.
