Moscow. April 22nd. INTERFAX - Pacific Fleet forces are returning to their permanent locations after completing a surprise combat readiness check, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.
"After the completion of the measures of the sudden combat readiness check, the ships of the Pacific Fleet return to their bases from the areas of tasks in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan," the message published on the website of the Ministry of Defense says.
The control ship "Marshal Krylov", the frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov", the large anti-submarine ships "Admiral Panteleev" and "Admiral Tributs", the corvettes "Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov", "Loud" and "Perfect", as well as large amphibious ships, small anti-submarine ships, minesweepers and missile boats, informs the agency
According to him, after the replenishment of material reserves and a short rest of the crews, the ships will continue to perform tasks in accordance with the fleet's combat training plan.
More than 25 thousand servicemen, 89 planes and helicopters, 167 ships, including 12 submarines, took part in the sudden inspection of the Pacific Fleet forces. The inspection of the Pacific Fleet took place from April 14 under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Evmenov.
"The command and personnel of the fleet in a short time carried out the preparation of forces for combat operations, performed operational deployment and worked out a set of combat training tasks in the near and far sea zones," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
According to the military, exercises and trainings were conducted with the crews of warships in the Japanese, Okhotsk and Bering Seas to repel massive missile and air strikes, search and destroy submarines, torpedo, artillery firing and missile launches were carried out against targets simulating ship strike groups and ground targets of a simulated enemy.
"Multi-purpose submarines, anti-submarine and attack ships, coastal missile systems "Bal" and "Bastion" in cooperation with the forces of long-range aviation of the VKS and naval aviation of the fleet have worked out various ways of preventing the deployment of enemy forces in the operationally important area of the Pacific Ocean - the southern part of the Sea of Okhotsk and repelling its landing on the southern Kuril Islands and Sakhalin Island," the Ministry of Defense reported.
The military reported that the units of the coastal troops and marines carried out a set of measures to bring them to the highest degrees of combat readiness and in practice worked out the tasks of organizing and conducting anti-amphibious defense of the coast section, conducting exercises and live firing at landfills.
"Strategic missile carriers Tu-95MS and long-range bombers Tu-22M3 of long-range aviation of the Aerospace Forces performed flights to the central part of the Pacific Ocean with simulated strikes on ship groups of a conditional enemy. With the crews of anti-submarine aircraft of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet, exercises were conducted to search for and destroy submarines," the message said.
