The online studio of the annual conference "Efficient Production 4.0" was held in the interactive museum of the history of aircraft engines of the St. Petersburg enterprise ODK-Klimov (part of the United Engine Corporation Rostec). One of the sections was devoted to the cooperation of enterprises and educational institutions in the field of personnel training for industry.
Andrey Melekhin, Deputy General Designer — Head of the Design Bureau of the UEC-Klimov, Director of the Higher School of Power Engineering of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Alyona Alyoshina, Head of the Department "Engines and Power Installations of Aircraft" of the Baltic State Technical University "VOENMEH" Artem shared their experience in attracting and training qualified young specialists capable of working with new information systems Levikhin and Konstantin Savichev, Director of the Engineering center of Power Machines JSC.
"The active digitalization of the Russian industry has led to the emergence of completely new requirements for graduates of technical universities. We try to start career guidance work with schoolchildren, so that children with a technical mindset and a penchant for exact sciences know about the possibilities of admission to a specialized university with subsequent guaranteed employment. And, accordingly, we expect that the university will prepare graduates for the UEC-Climes who possess the necessary competencies in the field of digital design, three—dimensional calculations, capable of working at a high-tech enterprise," Andrei Melekhin noted during the discussion.
By sending an "order" to the university for training specialists with a certain set of competencies, UEC-Klimov actively participates in the development of customized, target-oriented training programs. For example, in cooperation with BSTU "VOENMEH" develops a program of targeted training of engineers of a new generation for the aircraft industry "Wings of Rostec". Together with the Polytechnic University, the master's program "Aircraft Engines and Power Plants" was developed and opened. Now the university will prepare masters for UEC-Climes according to a completely new program based on engineering tasks presented by the enterprise itself, and, importantly, jointly with the enterprise.
"We have recently seen how important it is for companies to get quality specialists. If literally five years ago graduates themselves were looking for jobs, now employers come to us with a request and an understanding of which graduate they want to get. With the help of enterprises such as UEC-Klimov, we are "finishing up" educational programs so that they become more informative and useful for students and allow us to shorten the period of completion of our graduates in the workplace," Alyona Alyoshina said.
Developing cooperation, UEC and Polytech are preparing to open a master's program "Advanced Digital Technologies in Engine Building" on the basis of the Advanced Engineering School of SPbPU "Digital Engineering", which is based on a model of advanced training of the scientific and technical elite, by involving students in solving frontier tasks of the industry.
All participants of the round table agreed that a clear formation of an order from industrial enterprises for qualified graduates and active cooperation with universities in the field of targeted training is an important sign of the times.
The conference was organized by GC "Digital", a Russian developer of digital technologies for industry, the industrial partner of the event is the United Engine Corporation Rostec.
