/tass/. Exercises involving the forces of the Baltic Naval Base of the Baltic Fleet have begun in the Kaliningrad region. About 10 surface ships, boats and support vessels, more than 1.5 thousand servicemen are involved in the maneuvers, the press service of the fleet reported on Monday.
"At the first stage of the exercise, conducted in accordance with the planned inspection of the naval association following the results of the winter training period, the military authorities of the Baltic Naval Forces, a number of ship formations, as well as individual military units of the fleet participating in the exercise have been put on high alert," the press service said.
It is noted that in the Baltic Sea, the crews of small missile ships and boats, small anti-submarine ships, base and raid minesweepers will work out a wide range of tasks for their intended purpose - mine protection for the deployment of forces and anti-submarine sabotage defense of ships and boats when parked on the roadstead. Also, the ship's groups will have to work out joint actions on sailing in a single marching order, repelling the means of an air attack by a conditional enemy with shooting at air targets and conducting a training naval battle.
In addition, during the exercise, the ship groups of the Baltic Naval Forces will perform practical rocket and artillery firing to defeat ships and aircraft of a conditional enemy.
The issues of protecting ships and submarines of the fleet, the base point from sabotage and reconnaissance units of a likely enemy will also be worked out, and calculations of the coastal missile systems "Bal" and "Bastion" will destroy naval targets on the coast of the Kaliningrad region.
"In total, the crews of about 10 surface ships, boats and support vessels, more than 1.5 thousand military personnel, over 50 units of military and special equipment, as well as aircraft and helicopters of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation take part in the exercise," the naval press service said.
