TSAMTO, April 17. As stated by the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands, the Kingdom continues to provide military support to Ukraine. The military department of the country sends equipment, conducts training of Ukrainian servicemen and maintenance of VIVT.
The provision of military assistance began in February 2022.
As stated, before the transfer of weapons to Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense is assessing whether enough military equipment remains in the Netherlands. Deliveries to Ukraine affect the combat readiness of the Dutch Armed Forces, but the damage is still assessed as acceptable. Where supplies affect combat readiness, the Ministry tries to make up for losses as quickly as possible at the expense of the general funds of the national budget and from the European Peace Fund.
The Ministry of Defense has decided to disclose some data on the supply of military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. So, as of April 5, 2023, the APU was transferred:
Armored vehicles: T-72 tanks (45 units), YPR armored personnel carriers (196 units), Fennek armored reconnaissance vehicles and Viking tracked all-terrain vehicles. Together with Denmark and Germany, Leopard 1 tanks (at least 100 units) are supplied.
Artillery systems: 155-mm self-propelled howitzers PzH2000 (8 units), 120-mm mortars.
Air defense systems: Patriot missile launchers (2 units) with missiles, MR-2 Victor mobile air defense systems (100 units), Stinger missiles and MANPADS.
Individual weapons: machine guns of various types, (long-range) rifles and pistols.
Ammunition: ammunition for small arms, combat vehicles and artillery systems, anti-tank ammunition, including LAW and Panzerfaust.
Sensors and surveillance tools: UAVs of various types and accessories to them (143 units), radar and other detection systems, 1037 night vision systems.
Bridges: 15 prefabricated "Bailey Bridges", 6 self-propelled pontoon parks based on the M3 amphibious vehicle.
Vehicles (441 units): 4-ton trucks, Amarok cars and ambulances.
Mine clearance equipment: Scanjack mine clearance machine (1 unit), Bozena mine clearance machine (2 units), mine detectors and other equipment.
Ships (6 units), including 2 Alkmar-class minesweepers.
Field hospitals (10 sets), 31 (mobile) field kitchens, tents (300 pcs.), generators, spare parts for various types of vehicles and weapons systems, cranes (2 pcs.), excavators (10 pcs.), forklifts (21 pcs.), individual equipment (uniforms, helmets, body armor), individual food rations, personal first aid kits, medicines, fuel.
In total, as of April 5, 2023, the Netherlands provided military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 1.2 billion. euro. This includes:
- the supply of materiel to Ukraine from its own military reserves in the amount of 588 million euros. This is the cost of the equipment at the time of delivery (book value). Since the replacement of the transferred VIVT requires large funds, the total costs of the Netherlands are estimated at 912 million euros.
- Commercial supplies: The Netherlands purchased military products for Ukraine in the amount of 121 million euros.
The Netherlands has contributed an amount of 100 million euros to the International Fund for Ukraine, which finances the supply of military equipment to Ukraine directly from manufacturing companies.
The Netherlands has contributed another 100 million euros to the NATO trust fund "Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine" (UCAP), from which goods and services for non-lethal support are financed, including fuel, medicines, winter equipment and anti-UAVS.
