Moscow. 6 april. INTERFAX - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu got acquainted with new developments in the field of armored vehicles at the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the military department reported on Thursday.
"The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergei Shoigu, checked the progress of the implementation of the state defense order at the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant defense industrial Complex in the Nizhny Novgorod Region," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Shoigu inspected the production facilities of the enterprise, assembly lines and workshops for the production of armored personnel carriers of various modifications and armored vehicles "Tiger", the military said.
"Sergei Shoigu was also informed about ongoing projects to modernize samples of military equipment and weapons used in the Russian army. The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation was presented with the latest developments in the field of armored vehicles, providing additional protection for the crew and personnel," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Sergei Shoigu instructed to work out the production of special armored vehicles in various versions to accommodate medical, connected modules and household modules on their basis," the message says.
"Representatives of the company's management also reported to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation on increasing the protective properties of armor, taking into account the existing security requirements and the wishes of the servicemen themselves performing the tasks of a special military operation," the Defense Ministry said.
"The head of the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant noted that the new double armor of promising models of equipment withstands the detonation of two kilograms of TNT, the penetration of armor-piercing incendiary ammunition, protects the radiator, hood and wheel chassis, and also protects personnel from various means of destruction, including small arms fire, shell fragments and mortar mines", - reported in the ministry.
"Sergei Shoigu also noted the ergonomics of the internal space of armored samples of military equipment, which provides the crew and personnel with the convenience of operating armored vehicles and using weapons in combat. At the end of the work, the head of the Russian military department thanked the staff of the plant for increasing the pace of production, and also set the task to work out the issues of concluding long-term contracts that will allow forming a program for further development of the production of manufactured products," the message says.
Earlier on Thursday, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that Shoigu checked the progress of the state defense order at the enterprises of the military-industrial complex in the Nizhny Novgorod region, where ammunition, including artillery and aviation, is being produced.
"Representatives of the management of enterprises reported to Shoigu that over the past few months, the volume of products of the entire nomenclature has been significantly increased to provide troops with ammunition," the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said in a statement.
On April 1, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that Shoigu held a meeting at the headquarters of the joint grouping of Russian troops involved in a special military operation in Ukraine.
At that meeting Shoigu said: "Due to the expansion of production capacities and increased labor productivity, the number of products they produce to support the troops has increased by a multiple. We are talking about both conventional and high-precision types of weapons of destruction. All this makes it possible to carry out the tasks set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief in accordance with the plan for conducting a special military operation."
