Fighters of the 10th separate tank battalion of the 1st Donetsk Army Corps (formerly a separate tank battalion of the People's Militia of the DPR) demonstrated independently installed protection of the T-80BV from enemy kamikaze drones attacking from above.According to the "RG:Russian weapons", the structure mounted on the tower, unlike those "umbrellas" that we saw earlier, is more thoroughly thought out, focused on strikes from all directions.
The enemy has recently been increasingly using FPV drones carrying explosive charges or warheads of shaped grenades of the "Ray" type (PG-7VL) rocket-propelled grenade launchers RPG-7. It is precisely to counteract such means of destruction that such "cells" welded to the armor are designed.

In general, it is necessary to pay tribute to the crew of the combat vehicle, who thoroughly modified it. It is known that earlier on the serial "eighties" of this modification, dynamic protection was not mounted on the side screens. Only a small number were located on the overhead shelves. Here, the "Contact" blocks cover the side projections. They are also visible on the stern of the tower.
Currently, gas turbine T-80BV are actively used in the areas of a special military operation. Due to their high-speed and maneuverable characteristics, as well as high firepower, these tanks have proven themselves very well.

In addition, the troops also have significantly upgraded T-80BVMS with 1,250-horsepower engines, a new generation of "reactive armor", a modern fire control system and thermal imagers that allow them to find and hit targets both day and night with the same efficiency.
