Moscow. April 5. INTERFAX-AVN - The Russian frigate Admiral Gorshkov and the tanker Kama have made a call at the port of Jeddah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to replenish fuel and food supplies, the Northern Fleet said on Wednesday."Previously, Russian Navy ships made calls at the ports of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia about 10 years ago," the Northern Fleet said in a statement.
It is noted that during the stay in the port, the ships will replenish fuel, fresh water and food supplies.
Admiral Gorshkov is one of the most modern ships of the Russian Navy. The frigate, equipped with new hypersonic missiles "Zircon", set off on January 4 on a hike in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean Sea. The ceremony of the ship's entry into combat service was held under the leadership of Russian President Vladimir Putin via videoconference.
The Zircon is a new Russian hypersonic missile developed and manufactured by the Reutov NPO of Mechanical Engineering (part of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation, KTRV). Also among the main strike weapons of the Admiral Gorshkov frigate are Kalibr cruise missiles (Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region).
