/tass/. The United States is allocating a new package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $2.6 billion, including ammunition for missile defense and MLRS systems. This was announced on Tuesday by the Pentagon press service.
"Today, the Ministry of Defense announced new critical security assistance for Ukraine," the statement said.
The agency indicated that the assistance package consists of two parts. As part of the first aid is allocated in accordance with the special powers of President Joe Biden. Ukraine will thus receive assistance in the amount of $ 500 million, including ammunition for Patriot missile defense, HIMARS MLRS, artillery shells, ammunition for tanks, about 400 grenade launchers and about 200 thousand ammunition for them.
In addition, Ukraine will receive $ 2.1 billion in assistance as part of the initiative to promote its security, which involves the conclusion by the US Department of Defense of relevant contracts with manufacturers, and not the provision of certain equipment and funds directly from the Pentagon reserves. In accordance with this Pentagon initiative, Kiev will receive ammunition for NASAMS complexes, anti-drone weapons, aerial surveillance radars, anti-aircraft ammunition and rocket shells, as well as ammunition for mortars and Javelin anti-tank systems. In addition, the United States will transfer to Ukraine about 3.6 thousand small arms and more than 23 million rounds of ammunition. The package also includes cars, including tankers, repair and evacuation vehicles and trucks.
