TSAMTO, March 31. Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) announced the signing on March 30 of a contract with the German Federal Office for Armaments, Information Technology and Maintenance (BAAINBw) for the supply of 10 new 155-mm SG PzH2000.
Delivery of the systems is scheduled to begin in 2025. They will replace self-propelled howitzers that were recently transferred to Ukraine as part of military assistance. The agreement also includes options for the supply of 18 additional installations in three batches of six systems.
The Budget Committee of the Bundestag on March 29 approved the purchase of 10 units of 155-mm self-propelled howitzers PzH2000 for the Armed Forces of the country. The cost of the order is 184 million euros. The purchase was considered by the Parliament, since its cost exceeded 25 million euros.
Funds for the purchase will be allocated within the framework of the "Modernization Initiative", which is an instrument of the security policy of the German Federal Government aimed at military support of partner countries with equipment, equipment and training. Since the German Armed Forces handed over PzH2000 howitzers to Ukraine out of stock, the purchase of new systems for them is funded under this initiative. New self-propelled howitzers are expected to enter the army in 2025 and 2026.
As reported by TSAMTO, the German Ministry of Defense announced that, together with the Netherlands, it supplied the Armed Forces of Ukraine with 14 units of 155-mm self-propelled howitzers PzH2000. In addition, the countries cooperate in the training of Ukrainian servicemen.
The weight of the 155-mm self-propelled howitzer PzH2000 developed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann is about 55 tons, length / width/ height – 11,7/3,6/3,1 m, crew – 5 people (commander, driver, gunner, two loaders). The PzH2000 is armed with a 155-mm 52-caliber cannon with an automatic loading system. The ammunition of the installation is 60 rounds, the maximum rate of fire is up to 10 rounds /min. The maximum firing range is 40 km when using standard ammunition and up to 54 km when using extended-range ammunition. The howitzer is also armed with a 7.62 mm machine gun. The car is capable of speeds up to 60 km / h, a power reserve of more than 420 km.
