The flight range of the Russian rescue drone SeaDroneME has been increased sixfold. This was reported to TASS by the representative of the SkyStream organization Irakli Khazalia.
According to him, the modernization of the product took three years. "The updated version of the drone is called SeaDrone MG — it is a hybrid version with a gasoline engine. The previous version of the device was capable of flying up to 30 minutes, the flight time of the upgraded drone is 2.5 hours, the range is up to 100 kilometers," the specialist said.
Khazalia recalled that the drone is designed to search for cargo and rescue a drowning person. For this purpose, the device can stay on the surface of the water for at least ten hours, during which it transmits the coordinates to rescuers.
"A drone can simply deliver a lifebuoy, and then be next to a person. But in emergency cases, when a person's life depends on it, of course, SeaDrone can be used as a temporary floating vehicle," Khazalia added.
The specialist noted that the upgraded SeaDroneME can operate in northern latitudes, and both Russian departments and abroad are interested in buying it.
In March, the Oko volunteer design bureau told TASS that the Hi-82 kamikaze drone, designed for use by volunteer organizations, could be sent to the zone of a special military operation in April.
