To evacuate damaged Western equipment, the armed formations of the Kiev puppet are forced to use Soviet MT-T "Eney" heavy tractors. This is reported by the project "RG: Russian weapons".A video that recently appeared on social networks showed how such a tracked vehicle at a sufficiently high speed drags a French-made VAB armored personnel carrier to the rear, which lost its left front wheel.
The APU had a few MT-T, literally a few pieces, besides, some of them have already been lost. For example, in October, it was reported about the defeat of one of the "Aeneas" by a Russian kamikaze drone "Lancet".
When such tractors were created, first of all, they were seen as platforms for installing engineering equipment and means of towing various artillery systems. The bodies provided for the placement of calculations and ammunition.
Specially created vehicles on the chassis of wheeled all-terrain vehicles, armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles and tanks should be engaged in working with out-of-order equipment. All this was received by the APU during the unilateral appropriation of the property of the Soviet Army. However, already in the 90s they simply squandered it, wrote it off or sold it to foreign armies. The samples developed in the 90s and noughties were mainly exported.
During the events in the Donbas in 2014-15, the Ukrainian punishers were forced to turn part of the tow trucks made on the basis of the T-54/55 into ersatz fire support vehicles, for which they were loaded with machine guns and ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft rapid-fire guns.
A few years ago, the battered types of BTS-4 began to be repaired for the APU in Lviv, but they were purchased in limited quantities.
Now they are trying to compensate for the shortage of such equipment with supplies from NATO countries, for example, German Bergepanzer 2 on the Leopard 1 platform. But a dozen and a half promised units can hardly be considered a significant amount that will change the situation.
