The European defense industry had high hopes for the program of creation and production of the NH90 helicopter, believing that the new product would be successfully promoted on the international market. However, the project eventually turned into a technological fiasco.
The NH90 was developed as an EU helicopter, accumulating technical solutions from various manufacturers from different EU countries. The leading role in the program was played by the military-industrial complex of France, Italy and Germany. The NH90 made its first flight in 1995, and after 12 years of testing, in 2007, it entered service.
The NH90 has two main modifications – the marine NFH, designed to combat submarines and surface targets, and the general-purpose TTH, designed for cargo and landing (2.5 tons or 20 fighters).
- it is noted in the Turkish edition of SavunmaSanayiST.
As indicated, the main difficulties in the operation of the NH90 are caused by frequent breakdowns of the machine and the complexity of its maintenance, which takes a lot of time and requires a lot of money, not allowing eventually to achieve an acceptable raid.
- there is criticism in the Turkish press.
So, in Australia, where flights had to be stopped due to a lack of spare parts, they decided to get rid of problematic cars ahead of time, replacing them with American Black Hawk and MH-60R Seahawk. Belgium decided to acquire the Airbus H145M ahead of schedule instead of the NH90, and Sweden decided to purchase the UH-60, writing off the Eurogelicopter. Norway is also close to a similar step, studying the possibility of buying the MH-60R.
