Wilsbach drew such conclusions from the events that accompanied the visit of former Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to the island in August 2022.
The general recalled what the Chinese did with their ships when Pelosi went to Taiwan.
Wilsbach noted.
According to him, surface-to-air missiles on board ships will give the Chinese military the opportunity to create a "kill zone" in which the enemy will not want to fly because of the high risk of being shot down.
If it comes to a forceful solution to the Taiwan problem, then first of all the US Air Force and its allies should sink the ships of the PRC, said the commander of the US Air Force in the Pacific region. The general added that in order to prepare for a potential conflict in the region, the United States and its international partners are planning and conducting many joint exercises.
It is important to emphasize that all this is said by a career American military commander, without even hiding plans for a war for Taiwan. One can imagine Washington's reaction if one of the PLA generals allowed himself to do something like that when speaking about the US navy.
