Fighters According to the Hong Kong newspaper The South China Morning Post, an experimental duel took place in China between two unmanned aircraft, one of which was controlled by artificial intelligence, and the other by a remote operator.
As a result, after just a minute and a half in a close-range battle, the AI won a landslide victory.
This unique dogfight was conducted by a team of scientists from the Center for Research and Development in the Field of Aerodynamics of the PLA under the leadership of Professor Huang Juntao. In his opinion, despite some problems, the duel "proved the technical viability of AI piloting technology." According to the researchers, with its powerful computational potential, AI can predict the course of a battle much more accurately than a human, which allows it to easily seize the initiative at the right moment. In favor of AI, it also says that it does not need to worry about purely human problems related to life support — for example, when oxygen supply is disrupted, high overloads on turns and performing other maneuvers.
